Ready for summer, yeah!

This is Eloise. She is obviously happy for her new summer coat and has all the accessories in store for a fun vacation.

Daily Cat Fact

When cats see a bird, they tend to make a small, chirping-like sound. This is because the cat is imitating the bird, so the cat may approach its prey without the bird noticing.

  1. I LOVE your new blog. The cat fact for today is very interesting. Now I know why they chirp. I used to think they were "talking."

  4. Hi Julia! What a great idea for a blog.

I watched a PBS program yesterday about two cheetahs who were being raised to go back in the wild. Apparently they were born in captivity. The reason I mention this is that when one of the cheetahs was attacked and died, its brother climbed up on a tree trunk and chirped loudly. It was a mournful sound and very sad. Their human brother said that he was calling out for his deceased sibling.

Also, my son, Pete, and his wife Xinia, have a cat who did a lot of chirping when it was little and they named him Chirpy.
Who knew there were chirping cats and that they chirped for such a variety of reason.

  6. Hey Harper,

No I don't play violin with my cats, though they do seem to like to sit at my feet and listen.
